Just an outstanding figure, with the coolest feature I've ever seen!

Mezco One:12 John Stewart Green Lantern

Every time.  Every single time, I think I know what to expect when I open a Mezco box, and it's always there, a figure...  But man, the surprises...whether it's because I haven't been paying attention, or it's just so awesome, it's a surprise anyway, Mezco fails to disappoint me, every, single, time.  Does that change with John Stewart Green Lantern?  NOPE!

The Good

Ok, so my favorite part about this figure is / was apparently common knowledge, but day job, dad life, litlgeeks, I don't get out much, and didn't know about this.  The lantern, it lights up, this seems obvious I guess. However, the way in which it does so, blew. my. mind.  John's closed right fist (with ring), when pressed against the light, makes it light up...there isn't a button, not a switch, it's the ring, that lights the lantern, and I am giddy as a school girl about this
The accessories always make the Lantern Corps member.  Awesome smoking ring hand, blasting ring hand, star burst ring hand, green glow smash hand, dome hand, all amazing, and really, easy swaps
Flight stand, so he can do the flying, along with flight hands
Both faces are really just so detailed, life like, human looking, capture John Stewart perfectly, I prefer the bald head
Fantastic take on the costume
The Bad

My biggest issue with this, and will be the same with  Hal when he drops.  That's likely to be it, or near to it.  These are brilliant figures, and I'd love to build a full Corps.  I don't think that's going to happen, unless Mezco drops everything else, and that's not likely, or desirable either, first world problems
The rest

John is here.  Hal is coming as a PX Previews exclusive.  You'll need both.  Because light up lanterns.  'Nuff wait, wrong comic company!  (Just buy this dude while you can before they jack up the price!)

Almost perfect

To read my full review, head here:

John Stewart was my first Mezco order, and he’s finally here. Was he worth the wait? Absolutely. He looks great for the most part, the willpower accessories are nice, and the ring-activated power battery is super fun. I think I said the oath :-)

There are a few downsides. Instead of having the bald head, I would have preferred an alternate expression for the hairy head. The seam on the back of the suit is hideous, all the more when because it’s on an otherwise-meticulously crafted figure.

All in all, though, I love it. John’s one of my favorite characters, and the delight of the battery and the outstanding work Mezco did on most of the suit is much appreciated.

Mezco Toyz John Stewart Green Lantern Review

As a young boy in the middle of the 80's I can remember one of my first Kenner Super Powers figures was Green Lantern. The Super Powers line from the 80's is really why I love all of the characters to this day! Whether its John Stewart or Hal Jordan, I was always following the extremely unique DC character. John Stewart is a man of many traits, a US Marine Vet, intergalactic guardian and a true hero. Let's take a closer look at John Stewart and Mezco's execution of the Green Lantern.

John comes out of the box ready to go with plenty of effects to pose and play with. He comes on a highly articulated body with a sleek suit. I did mention a few very minor points like the stitching and the details of the green lining not exactly lined up perfectly, but its very minor compared to the overall figure. Mezco was smart to include a hand as apart of each effect instead of trying to make it some sort of groove to make it fit in with his standard hands. Mezco is also releasing the Hal Jordan version in the future and it looks amazing. I prefer the Hal Jordan Green Lantern but this version really looks and feels great in hand!

John Stewart Kicks Off The Mezco Lanterns

He is the Lantern of Earth and thanks to the Justice League cartoon he might actually be the most famous. John Stewart is the first Lantern in the Mezco Toyz One:12 line and he has a lot to offer collectors.

I have loved the world of the Green Lanterns since my first Super Powers figure. There was just something about the colors and design that caught my eye, so when Mezco announced they were doing a One:12 version I knew I had to get him. While this version is not comic accurate, it is still a great design. and you have two head options to give you some variations on the look.
